Financing Restoration and Resilience

Restoration at scale across Africa’s blue carbon frontier requires appropriate finance. Twende connects credible programmes, proven first on Kenya’s coast, with the funding, technical support and investment structures needed to move from site-level activity to durable landscape and seascape outcomes.

Grants & Development Finance

Grants and philanthropy, climate finance, biodiversity and nature finance, and development-partner programmes, the funding routes that support restoration work directly, from site-level activity to programme-level scale.

Corporate & Research Finance

Corporate partnerships and research and innovation funding, for organisations and institutions looking to support credible, evidence-led restoration work with a defined technical or programme focus.

Project Preparation & Enterprise Finance

Project-preparation finance and blue-economy enterprise finance, the funding that turns a well-designed restoration or livelihoods programme into an implementable, fundable project.

Carbon & Responsible Investment

Carbon-market readiness where appropriate, and responsible private investment in nature-based solutions, approached with the same evidence discipline as every other part of Twende’s work. Carbon credits are not treated as the business model, but as one possible outcome of credible, well-measured restoration.

Fund a Programme

A prospective funder should be able to see the problem, the intervention and its rationale, the communities and governance involved, the evidence, the technical approach, the safeguards, the monitoring plan, the budget logic, scalability, risks, partnership opportunities, and the route from funding to measurable additional impact.

how we present finance

Financial Integrity as Standard Practice

Twende Green Planet reports on its own funding with the same rigour it applies to programme monitoring. Kenya’s Blue Carbon Ecosystems NDC Implementation and Investment Plan sets out investment targets for the country’s blue carbon sector as a whole; Twende references these figures to describe the landscape it operates within, and reports separately, and transparently, on funding it has itself secured. That distinction is maintained in every funder conversation.

Finance & Investment FAQs

What kinds of finance is Twende seeking?

A mix suited to different stages of work: grants and philanthropy and development-partner programmes for direct restoration activity, project-preparation finance to move a designed programme toward implementation, and, where appropriate, carbon-market and responsible private investment routes.

Has Twende received funding from Kenya’s national Blue Carbon Investment Plan?

Kenya’s national plan sets out targets and investment figures for the country’s blue carbon sector as a whole. Twende’s own programmes are designed to align with it and to be investment-ready as that funding becomes available; funding secured directly by Twende is reported separately and transparently.

Is carbon credit trading Twende’s business model?

Restoration and community livelihoods come first. Carbon-market readiness is one pathway for a well-documented programme, built with the same evidence and safeguards discipline as every other part of our work.

What would a funder see before committing to a programme?

The problem being addressed, the proposed intervention and its rationale, the communities and governance structures involved, the evidence base, the technical approach, safeguards, the monitoring plan, budget logic, scalability, risks, and the route from funding to measurable additional impact.

How can a funder or investor start a conversation?

Through the contact details on this site. We are glad to discuss which of our programmes, or which stage of project preparation, best matches a funder’s own focus and requirements.
