Working Within Kenya’s National Blue Carbon Framework
Twende Green Planet is a Kenya-registered, Kenya-led organisation with a Pan-African mandate, and our restoration work here operates inside the policy framework set by the Government of Kenya, most recently formalised in the national Blue Carbon Ecosystems NDC Implementation and Investment Plan.

how we frame this relationship
Policy Alignment, Clearly Defined
This page sets out the national framework Twende Green Planet’s work is designed to support: which strategies inform our approach, and where our programmes sit inside them. Twende is not funded by, contracted to, or formally endorsed by the Government of Kenya; funding and endorsement relationships are reported here only once documented.
- Restoration work carried out under Kenya’s own regulatory and permitting framework
- Programme design consistent with national blue carbon and climate priorities, not run in parallel to them
- Direct engagement with Kenya Forest Service and Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation on specific programmes (see their own pages)
- County-level restoration work in Mombasa and Kilifi, Kenya’s two coastal counties with the mangrove and seagrass ecosystems this work protects
